THE FIX

FEBRUARY 18, 2021 – THE FIX

By February 18, 2021December 27th, 2022No Comments

The Fix newsletter provides thousands of my readers with three problem-solving fixes, allowing them to harvest the benefits of my 1 + 1 + 1 = 10x Formula. I hope by sending you this newsletter I can help shift your focus from reactive to proactive, and ultimately help you grow both personally and professionally. Enjoy!

How to lead, from the experts . . .

If your goal, like mine, is to be the dumbest person in the room surrounded by geniuses, you will enjoy these articles from the geniuses:

• Here’s a fantastic, well-researched and in-depth report from McKinsey on The Mindsets and Practices of Excellent CEOs
• Another good read here: 10 Leadership Strategies for Thriving in 2021
• And, finally, always a great reminder, here are Amazon’s Leadership Principles. Really great stuff!

Also, as I have previously mentioned, I start each day with an inspirational “input”, whether a page out of a book or a soundbite from a business or mindset leader. It really creates and cultivates the right frame of mind each day and provides a nice supplement to the precious meditative sounds of silence and nature while crowding out the ornery inputs of news and social media. I know a lot of folks look to the Bible or other religious texts for their daily source of inspiration. I recently completed a year’s worth of the Daily Stoic by Holiday and Hanselman, which I recommend. I’m now on to Ray Dalio’s Principles and it’s been a really great experience so far. It contains a principle-a-day from one of the most successful entrepreneurs and investors in history. This one gets a strong recommendation from me.

Can you require vaccines in the workplace?

According to the EEOC, as a general rule, employers can mandate vaccines without violating disability law. The key is to demonstrate that (1) the vaccines are intended to protect workplace safety and (2) the vaccination programs do not impermissibly require disclosure of disability information.

Like so many legal issues, this one has some moving parts. This article written by GLF partner Max Julian will get you thinking on the subject.

You got this Peleton . . .

I don’t like to unnecessarily promote things that don’t need my help promoting them, but I’m going to do it here because it’s worked so well for me.  Hands-down the best way I’ve found to string together a large number of work-out days in a row (without going to the gym) . . . . the Peloton App.  And I don’t own a Peloton bike. Too crazy-expensive for me. Great stuff at the app though. I like the live classes, but there’s plenty there to calibrate to your particular fitness needs – strength training, running, cardio, yoga– at whichever lengths and intensity you want, with really great instructors. They’ve got it all.  Love it.
