THE FOUNDER’S FIX
The Entrepreneur’s Silent Battle . . .
One of my favorite quotes-especially whenever I’m feeling envious-is “All of your biggest heroes are fighting a battle you know nothing about.” (Attributed to novelist Brad Meltzer, the late Robin Williams and various others…)
I find that to be particularly true of entrepreneurs.
For an insightful look at the mind and journey of an entrepreneur, insights they will rarely share with most of the people they know, check out this article about the Dark Sides of Entrepreneurship.

THE LEGAL FIX
Can Employers Require Employees to Receive COVID Vaccines?
This month, a federal court dismissed a case challenging a Texas hospital’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy for its employees. While prior guidance from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) provided firm ground on which employers could require vaccinations, the dismissal of the suit and the court’s corresponding opinion further affirms EEOC guidance to employers, which suggests as a general rule, employers can mandate vaccines without running afoul of the ADA, so long as (1) the vaccines are intended to protect workplace safety and (2) the vaccination programs do not impermissibly require disclosure of disability information.
Check out the latest LEGAL FIX article for a summary of the EEOC’s guidance and an outline of procedures employers should follow to ensure a mandatory vaccine policy does not inadvertently expose them to ADA liability.

THE TALENT FIX
Navigating a Tight Labor Market
As of June 2021, many states have reopened, allowing businesses to operate at full or near-full capacity. Restaurants, travel, and hospitality, and entertainment companies are seeing surges of customers eager to escape the mandated lockdowns. While there’s no doubt this influx of consumers will give the economy a much-needed shot in the arm (pun intended), many businesses are having a difficult time staffing to keep up with demand. Further still, companies are suffering from labor shortages at all ends of the spectrum. In particular, the competition for executive talent is particularly high, with executive turnover predicted to reach historic highs (a recent Bain report predicts CEO turnover to rise to as high as 30% in 2022) as the “Great Resignation” begins.
So, with all this in mind, we’ve pulled together some best practices you can employ to attract executive talent and fill those key positions at your company.

THE RANDOM FIX
Toilet Humor . . .
Ever been on a hike or a road trip and utterly terrified about not knowing where the nearest public toilet is?
Yeah… that’s never happened to anyone I know 😉
Fear not. There’s an app for that. It’s called Flush, and it’s pretty handy.
You’re welcome. -Alex
