Using Controlled Crowdsourcing to Solve Complex Problems

By December 28, 2016October 5th, 2021No Comments

Woman driving a carAccording to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the 20 to 29-year-old demographic has the largest proportion of drivers who were distracted during a crash. So how do we get teens to stop driving distracted? We think the answer is simple: ask them. Controlled crowdsourcing limits the crowd to those who have knowledge that relates to the question. After all, they are the ones who have the most experience being a teenager today.

Gertsburg Licata does this all the time. In conjunction with the Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce and with the support of business sponsors, the second annual “We Solve Problems” essay contest challenges high school students to solve the problems that are most relevant to themselves and their peers. Last year’s contest awarded $10,000 in donated prize money to local schools and contest finalists. That’s because whether it’s mentoring programs or volunteering at shelters or fostering rescued animals, we believe that a successful business should contribute to the betterment of their community.

How controlled crowdsourcing can work for you and your nonprofit

Some of the most important parts of any community are the nonprofit organizations that work to address the needs of the underserved. Most nonprofits are started with the purest of intentions, but regulatory statutes, governmental compliance and complicated paperwork can bog down even the best ideas. Even large, well-organized nonprofits can be crippled by simple errors; that’s where we come in.

As a founder, director or officer of a nonprofit, your legal considerations and needs are very different from those of a for-profit organization. At Gertsburg Licata, our attorneys have first-hand experience serving on nonprofit boards and advising nonprofits. We have the knowledge and experience to ensure that your nonprofit is in compliance at all times and running as efficiently as possible, all the while keeping sight of your purpose. As a nonprofit, you want to help others. At Gertsburg Licata, we want to help you.
