Many of you reading this have walked with me for years on an incredible journey — from our early days fifteen years ago practicing law with some of the largest firms in Ohio, to our time together in the Army and in Iraq in 2003, to our new road ten years ago when we went in-house to become corporate General Counsel for a downtown telecom company, to 2013 when we took the lessons of all of those experiences to start the Gertsburg Law Firm.
In the course of these fifteen years, my GLF team and I have learned a few things about how to be real trusted advisors, not measured by just a billable hour, about how to be proactive to avoid fines and investigations and damages, about how to avoid huge legal fees. Having been clients ourselves for ten years, we have felt that “punch in the gut” feeling when our outside counsel fees have exceeded our CEO’s budget, or when they haven’t delivered the value we expected.
